The British Journal of Sports Medicine published a study on November 25 examining the connection between sitting and health. Researchers studied the behavior of people in 21 countries. They found that sitting for more than eight hours a day is associated with a similar risk of death as smoking.

Another study, published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, examined the relationship between sitting and health. Researchers found that prolonged sedentary time is linked to an increased risk of heart disease.
